Tori & Adam Engagement Session
Scouting Locations
Lionshead Village
If you're drawn to a refined, elevated aesthetic, Lionshead Village at Vail offers a distinctly European feel. The cobblestone walkways, European-inspired architecture, charming archways, and monochrome-toned facades create a romantic and timeless backdrop.
This location is perfect for couples wanting a luxury, editorial look to their engagement session — something that feels polished, architectural, and sophisticated.
Why I love it:
- Beautiful European-inspired architecture
- A wide variety of backdrops within walking distance
- Romantic textures: stone, wood, archways, lanterns
- Feels elevated and stylish
Things to consider:
- Parking: the first hour is free, and parking is free after 3pm
- It can be busy during peak ski season or weekends
That said, when I visited in late February, it was surprisingly calm and very manageable
This is a wonderful option if you love charm, texture, and a more curated mountain-town feel.

Avon Overlook
Avon Overlook offers a stunning outdoor setting with sweeping views of Avon, Beaver Creek, and mountain ranges stretching beyond. It feels peaceful, open, and naturally beautiful.
What makes this location especially strong is the lighting — the sun sets behind the mountains, meaning it will be behind you, creating soft, flattering backlight (which is ideal for romantic, glowing images).
The vegetation in the foreground also helps break up the snow visually, adding texture and depth so the images don’t feel overly bright or washed out.
Why I love it:
- Gorgeous mountain views with town below
- Sun behind you for the most flattering light
- Natural vegetation adds variety and dimension
- Convenient and easy to access
- Beautiful balance of open views and textured foreground
Things to consider:
- It’s more nature-focused and less architectural
- Weather exposure depending on wind
This is an incredible option if you want a true Colorado feel with dynamic lighting and a variety of natural backdrops.
Vail Nordic Center (Mountain Backdrop)
For couples who want that iconic Colorado mountain backdrop, the Vail Nordic Center offers expansive views and dramatic alpine scenery. It’s a classic, scenic mountain setting that feels peaceful and wide open.
The access is fairly easy, making it a great option if you want mountain views without a strenuous hike.
Why I love it:
- Stunning, unobstructed mountain backdrop
- Easy accessibility
- Clean, simple alpine aesthetic
Things to consider:
- You will likely be facing toward the sun
- With snow on the ground, this location can be very bright
- Bright conditions may require more squinting and careful positioning
This is a beautiful choice if the mountain backdrop is your top priority and you love a crisp, alpine look.
Westin Riverfront
The Westin Riverfront is another beautiful option for an engagement session, especially since it’s also conveniently located for you. The property offers a refined mountain resort atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor spaces that photograph beautifully.
The outdoor patio provides a lovely mountain backdrop, while the interior bar and lounge areas offer a warm, elevated setting with natural textures, stone, and soft lighting. This combination can create a nice variety of images within one location,
Why I love it:
- Beautiful outdoor patio with mountain backdrop
- Stylish indoor bar and lounge areas
- Convenient location for you both
Below is a map showing the locations mentioned above. The nice thing about these options is that they are all within about 20 minutes of each other, which allows us to easily move between locations if you'd like variety in your gallery.
My first choice for the session flow would be:
Lionshead Village
2:10 PM – 2:50 PM
This location works beautifully for a slightly more elevated or dressier outfit (if you're planning two outfits). The European-style architecture and charming walkways create a really refined backdrop.
Avon Overlook
3:10 PM – 4:00 PM
We would then head to Avon Overlook for your second outfit. The lighting here will be beautiful with the sun behind you, and the mountain views and natural foreground vegetation create a stunning Colorado setting.
This combination gives you both the elevated mountain village feel and a scenic Colorado landscape, creating a really well-rounded engagement gallery.
